Quality & Certifications

IPC-A-610 & Staff Certifications

Our manufacturing and inspection processes are supported by IPC-A-610 certified personnel, ensuring electronic assemblies meet industry-accepted workmanship and quality standards. Team members are trained to recognize defects, apply consistent acceptance criteria, and maintain high levels of build integrity across all assemblies.

Ongoing training and certification reinforce our commitment to quality, process discipline, and continuous improvement—providing customers confidence that products are built and inspected by qualified professionals.

First Article Inspection (FAI)

IntercoastalMFG performs First Article Inspections (FAI) to verify that initial production units fully conform to customer specifications, drawings, and quality requirements prior to full production release.

FAI includes:

  • check_circle Visual and dimensional inspection
  • check_circle BOM and component verification
  • check_circle Assembly workmanship review
  • check_circle Documentation of inspection results

This process ensures issues are identified early, reduces production risk, and establishes a validated baseline for repeatable manufacturing.

X-Ray & Advanced Inspection Capabilities

We utilize X-ray inspection to evaluate hidden solder joints and internal features that are not visible through standard optical inspection. This capability is especially critical for complex assemblies such as BGAs, QFNs, and fine-pitch components.

X-ray inspection helps detect:

  • check_circle Solder voids
  • check_circle Insufficient or excessive solder
  • check_circle Bridging and alignment issues
These inspection methods enhance defect detection and support high-reliability assembly requirements.

Process Control & Traceability

Our manufacturing processes are built around controlled workflows and traceability to ensure consistent, repeatable results. Each job follows defined work instructions, inspection checkpoints, and documented process steps.

Traceability practices may include:

  • check_circle Lot and serial number tracking
  • check_circle Material and component traceability
  • check_circle Work order documentation
  • check_circle Inspection and test records
  • This structured approach supports quality accountability and simplifies root-cause analysis if issues arise

Functional Testing

IntercoastalMFG provides functional testing services to verify that assemblies operate as intended prior to shipment. Testing is performed according to customer-defined procedures or collaboratively developed test criteria.

Functional testing may include:

  • check_circle Power-up and basic functionality checks
  • check_circle Signal verification
  • check_circle Custom test fixtures or customer-supplied test methods
Testing helps ensure products meet performance expectations and reduces the risk of field failures.

Our quality systems are designed to support reliable manufacturing, reduce risk, and provide OEM customers with confidence at every stage—from prototype through production.
